How tailoring works
The three things tailoring is allowed to do to your CV, the one thing it is not, and the order the screens go in from posting to file.
Tailoring reshapes the CV you already have against one specific posting. It can do three things, and the fourth is the one this product exists to refuse.
The three things it may do
- Change the order. Roles and bullets are reweighted so the evidence this employer asked for rises to where a reader looks first.
- Change the wording. Where your line describes the same work in different words, it is aligned to the posting's vocabulary. The reordering and most of the rewording are computed in your browser.
- Bring back evidence you wrote elsewhere. Bullets a page fit removed, answers you typed when a posting screened for something, and points you added by hand.
The fourth thing, which it will not do
It will not invent. A rewrite that introduces a number, an employer, a product name or a date that is not in your own text is discarded, and you are told. See when the fabrication guard blocks a change.
Automatic, or offered
The split is by where the sentence came from, not by convenience.

The order the screens go in
- Open the posting. From the board, or by pasting a description you found elsewhere.
- Tailor for a role. The matching runs and the changes are listed.
- Read the changes. Each one names the posting's word and your word. Keep or reject them individually.
- ATS compliance. Reads the document the way a filter will and lists anything that would trip it.
- The last read-through. The final check before the file exists.
- Download, or hand it to a form.
Nothing is written to a file until step six, and step six does not happen without you.
What tailoring cannot fix
A low Fit. There is no arrangement of words that turns four years in one discipline into six in another, and a tool that implies otherwise produces a document you cannot defend in the interview it wins you.

One habit worth having
If three tailorings in a row demote the same bullet, that is a message about your base CV rather than about those three jobs. Fix it at the source in the editor, and every future application starts further ahead.
Questions about this
Does tailoring change my original CV?
No. The base document is untouched and a tailored version is a new document. You can tailor the same CV for twenty jobs and still have the original.
How long does it take?
A minute or two of reading. The reordering and the wording changes are computed in your browser; only the sentence rewriter calls out, and only on a paid plan.
Can I tailor a job that is not on the board?
Yes. Paste the description into the tailoring screen and it is read on the spot with the same classifier the board uses.
Why did it only change a few lines?
Because only a few lines had anything to say to that posting. A tailoring that rewrites everything is one that stopped reading the job.
Tailor against a posting you have read
The output is only as good as the advert going in. A full description gives the matcher something to work with; a two-line teaser does not.
