Apply by hand on a manual board
The copy-out screen lays your answers out in that board's own field order. How to use it, and how to get the job onto the tracker afterwards.
Most listings need a person in a browser. That is a fact about employers rather than a limitation here, and the product's job on those is to make the twenty minutes into five.
The copy-out screen
Open Fill a form by hand under Applying in the side rail, with the posting attached.
It lays out everything the application needs in that board's own field order: contact details, history, the answers you have written before, and the tailored document ready to attach. You paste down the page in the order the form asks.
The field order matters more than it sounds. Copying from a document laid out in a different order is where people paste the wrong thing into the wrong box.
Steps
- Open the posting and tailor for it as normal.
- Approve the changes and let the document build.
- Open the copy-out screen.
- Download the document, so the upload dialog has something to point at.
- Open the employer's form in another tab.
- Paste field by field, in the order the screen lists them.
- Answer everything about work authorisation, visa status, citizenship or identity yourself. Those are never filled for you anywhere in this product.
- Submit on their form.
- Add the row to the tracker.
Boards where this is the route
Anything with no form adapter, plus every board on the refused list: LinkedIn, which is blocked and never automated; Indeed, which forbids it; and the credentialed systems, Workday, SuccessFactors, iCIMS and Taleo, where the application sits behind an account the employer issues.
Getting it onto the tracker
Nothing records itself here, because nothing of ours was involved in the send.
Open the tracker and add the job. A role, a company or a link is enough on its own; everything else is optional. Set the stage to Applied and the date to today, and note which document you sent.
That last field is the one you will want in three weeks when somebody calls and you cannot remember which version they are holding.
The answers are reusable
A screener question you answer once is kept and offered the next time a form asks the same thing. Ten manual applications are slow. The eleventh is much faster, and that is the whole return on doing the first one carefully.
Next: tracker stages, end to end.
Questions about this
Where is the copy-out screen?
Under Applying in the side rail, as Fill a form by hand. It is also offered from any listing whose route is refused or manual.
Does using it count against my application allowance?
The allowance covers preparing an application. Pasting it in yourself is your own time and nobody meters that.
Will the tracker know I applied?
Not on its own. Add the row, or paste the link into your own job list, and the stage is yours to set.
Can I still get a tailored document for these boards?
Yes. The document does not care how it is delivered, and every board on the refused list can still be tailored for.
Do the pasting once, properly
The answers are reusable. What you type into a screener question here is offered on the next form that asks the same thing.
